Andrea Flores: Practical Psychologist & Founder

Years ago I was at a very unclear time in my life. The insecurity, the voracious hunger to get to know myself better and the feeling that what I had and what was due to me could not be everything in this life made me look for ways of self-knowledge. I can not explain the hunger I felt and the frustration started to kick in..

One day I found information about ayahuasca and I said to myself “if this isn’t it, then I don’t know what can help me”. As a therapist I had a lot of doubts about it because 10 years ago ayahuasca was not as well known medicine as it is today, but I tried it… and my life changed.

My name is Andrea and I am a devoted spokesperson for the master plant. I know its power and its transformative spirit, I know what this power can accomplish in a mind & body. Because it did for me in a way I never could have imagined.

My life changed 10 years ago, it changed thanks to the tools that life implanted in me with the help of ayahuasca. I believe that many of us are looking for more, for the feeling that what we know cannot be the only thing that exists, that what I feel cannot continue to control my emotions and that the hunger and emptiness that many of us have has a reason and that is “the search and finding of who I really am”.

Raquel Lucia: Psychologist, comprehensive transpersonal therapist & co-founder

Hello, I’m Raquel Lucía… A long time ago I felt a great emptiness inside me that I didn’t know how to handle. I chose to study psychology, to be able to “understand” that emptiness, an emptiness that filled me with doubts, insecurities, pain, and loneliness. However, I was never told that in order to “help” others I had to help myself first. And so, I began a great search to arrive at this wonderful master plant that is “ayahuasca”…

During my process, I was able to have a deep reconciliation with myself and especially with my parents. Thus, my desire to delve deeper into myself led me to study family constellations… There, I discovered the eternal loyalties and fidelities of suffering that only anchored me to the past and prevented me from enjoying my life.

This is how today I dedicate myself to integrating this knowledge of different transpersonal therapies together with the master plants… Grateful for the life that allows me to serve, grateful to my parents for giving me life, grateful to myself for trying every day , grateful to my daughter for showing me real love. No one finds their way without first getting lost. No one gets to live their life without first knowing themselves in depth.

For more than 40 years Maestra “Yaka” is experienced in learning and working with plant medicines like ayahuasca. Born and raised right next to the Rio Ucayali, Yaka is a real descendant of the Shipibo tribe.

Perhaps the most important aspect of Shipibo culture is their deeply-rooted spirituality, with an emphasis placed on plant spirit shamanism. For them, much of their knowledge comes from the plants themselves, particularly when it comes to healthcare and their worldview.

As a young girl Yaka had the desire to help people heal illnesses, cure sadness and find peace and till this day this is still her life mission. So at 15 years old after Yaka asked her father to give her his wisdom of dieting plants, so she accompanied him when he performed ceremonies. After five years of taking medicine with her father, at the age of 20 Maestra Yaka had her first ikaro, which is direct communication with the master plant and which allows her to perform ayahuasca ceremonies. Besides the sacred plant medicine Ayahuasca, Yaka is a specialist in numerous plants from the Amazon like Ubos, Chiric Sanango, Ajo Sacha, Marosa and countless other plant medicines.

Angelo L. Nijland: Facility, Organisation & Caregiver

I was 31 years old with a dusty office job. I had a life that many would describe as “normal”. A life without many worries, but I still missed something. I didn’t know what, but I missed something that I would now describe as; color.  Before this moment I was adrift for years, I didn’t know what I wanted in life and I also went through life with some childhood traumas here and there. Of course I had dreams and ambitions, but I didn’t know how and where to start. The most important thing I did was keep believing in myself.

When I first heard about Ayahuasca about 3 years ago, I was immediately hooked. A plant medicine from the Amazon that has been used for thousands of years to get closer to yourself? To regain the connection with nature that we have lost in Western society? Count me in! Since that moment, the voice in my head wouldn’t leave me alone “I have to do this”. And so I began my search for some color in my life. I decided to throw away that dusty office job and plan a trip through South America with only one mission; Ayahuasca. So it was no coincidence that I met Andrea in the first week of my trip. Ultimately, Ayahuasca changed my life more than I ever thought could happen. It gave my life color and a purpose greater than myself. And I now hope I can give the world some color back through Ilumina.
